Presentation Outline
In the unpredictable world of construction, Murphy’s Law — "anything that can go wrong, will go wrong" — often plays out in the hidden layers of the building envelope. This presentation explores how a deep understanding of building science fundamentals, coupled with well-honed intuition, can help professionals anticipate and avoid costly complications. Through a series of unique but practical case studies, attendees will see how issues related to age, environmental exposure, materials, and workmanship can trigger cascading problems during a building envelope restoration or construction project. From water intrusion to unforeseen structural deficiencies, we’ll examine how early recognition and application of core envelope principles can transform a potential nightmare into a manageable project — and keep Murphy at bay. This presentation will share some key insights and lessons all stakeholders in this industry can use to avoid significant liability and cost implications.
