This session presents Tower D within the Valhalla Village development in Toronto, a modular precast tower utilizing pre-glazed concrete panels. It explores how off-site fabrication influences building envelope design, detailing, and QA/QC processes. Drawing on both in-plant testing and observed on-site performance, the presentation highlights key challenges and lessons learned from interface performance in managing air, water, and thermal control continuity.

Matthew Gelowitz, M.A.Sc., B.Arch.Sci.
Synergy Partners
Matthew Gelowitz is a building science consultant and Project Manager at Synergy Partners, where he advises building owners, condominium corporations, architects, and developers on building envelope restoration and new construction projects. He also serves as Vice President of the Building Science Association of Ontario. Matthew has contributed to the design, construction review, and building performance of over 250 projects across the multi-residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and manufactured housing sectors. His experience spans both new construction and existing building rehabilitation, with a focus on durability, constructability, and long-term performance. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Architectural Science and a Master of Applied Science in Building Science from Toronto Metropolitan University.

Melanie is a Project Associate at Synergy Partners, focusing on new construction alongside restoration. She has completed zero carbon transition plans, thermal modelling, and construction review across residential, institutional, commercial, and industrial buildings.
