George Torok, is a Senior Building Science Specialist with Stantec Consulting Ltd., in Ottawa, Ontario.  George has over 38 years of experience in building envelope design, construction, performance assessment, failure investigation and rehabilitation for public and private sector buildings of all types across North America. George works with building owners and design teams to achieve balanced, practical and innovative solutions, and provides peer support and mentoring within our team.  George is a voting member of the CSA-A119 Technical Committee on Performance Standards for Windows and the CGSB Committee on Glass, and a member of the Algonquin College Bachelor of Science (Building Science) Program Advisory Committee.  George is a past president of BECOR and OBEC.

Eric Wood

Trisha is a Senior Code Consultant and Team Lead for the Code and Life Safety team within Stantec’s Building Specialty Services Canada East business centre. Trisha has over 18 years of building consulting background and actively applies her knowledge of Building and Fire Codes across various Canadian jurisdictions for both new building designs and existing building retrofits across a range of occupancy types. Trisha’s fundamental knowledge of fire dynamics and fire protection design allows her to apply judgment in the application of prescriptive requirements of the Codes and develop alternative solutions to meet the areas of performance required by the Codes. Trisha enjoys speaking about fire safety and building design and has presented to various audiences including property management groups, architects and engineers and building officials on the impacts of code changes including recent presentations on Encapsulated Mass Timber Construction and the 2024 Ontario Building Code changes at events like the Wood Solutions Fair, The Building Show and Ontario Large Municipalities Chief Building Officials workshops.

Trisha Ashworth, M.Eng., P.Eng. (ON, AB, NT)

Eric Wood has a comprehensive understanding of performance envelope systems and techniques for secondary structural integration with various structures including mass timber. Eric is a technical subject matter expert within the Façade Specialist Engineering Group with Zero Carbon performance design experience including a variety of engineered wood applications involving additive manufacturing, digital fabrication, specialty engineering, and innovative structural connections. Eric specializes in the visualization of complex interfaces for prefabrication optimization early in design, enabling detail development, design-assist specialty engineering, supply-installation logistics, and construction site coordination.
