The Critical Role of Transition Membranes in Building Envelope Performance

Recording Preview Add to Cart

Many modern buildings incorporate multiple envelope systems that rely on different trades working together to provide water and airtight assembly. When these assemblies are not properly installed, even a well-designed building can experience performance failures. We as designers need to ensure our designs are constructable and can accommodate for detailing from different trades. We also need to consider if alternate details or changes are proposed, the change needs to meet the original intent. There could be issues that may be brought up because of ease of constructability, but we should not accept a change that compromise the original design or intent.

There will be real life examples presented of different situations where leakage has occurred after work was recently complete and dive deep into where the design was compromised and how to prevent these issues from occurring in the future.
